Romance Whore Review: Rough, Raw and Ready by Lorelei James

…Torn between the love he has…and the love he’s always wanted.

Chassie West Glanzer hasn’t been a stranger to drama and tragedy. A year of wedded bliss to sexy-as-sin cowboy Trevor Glanzer has brought her the happiness and contentment she never thought she’d find, and mellowed Trevor’s rodeo wanderlust. Then Trevor’s old roping partner ambles up the driveway—and Chassie’s life changes drastically.

Trevor never expected to see Edgard Mancuso again, after it became clear he couldn’t be the man Edgard needed. Now Edgard is back from Brazil to sort out their tangled past, and Trevor is plagued with feelings he thought he’d buried over three years ago. Although Trevor is hat-over-bootheels in love with his sweet, feisty wife, the sense his life is missing a piece has always gnawed at him.

Chassie’s shock that Edgard and Trevor were once lovers turns to fear of losing her husband. Or worse, fear that Trevor will stay with her only out of a sense of duty. Yet as the three of them spend time together, the sins of the past blur and fade, leaving raw emotion—and unbridled passion.

Passion that could heal…or cause irreparable damage to their future.

Warning: This book contains unbelievably explicit sex, including multiple cowboy/cowgirl/cowboy ménage scenes, juicy, hot, male on male action, a bucketful of politically incorrect situations and true Western ideology

Lorelei James’ Rough Rider books are a series of erotic stories set in the modern West.  I have read a few of the Rough Rider books and have found them to be highly entertaining.  My very first Rough Rider read was Long Hard Ride.  Come to think about it, that may have been my first erotic romance purchase.  Hmm, I will have to dwell on that a bit.  It was a very hot read and I was completely drawn in by the secondary relationship between rodeo partners, Trevor and Edgard.  And now that I think about THAT, it may have also been my first taste of gay erotica.  *swoon*  Sadly, in the end,  Edgard rides off into the sunset when Trevor can’t commit to a public and open relationship.

When deciding which Rough Rider book to read next, I came across Rough, Raw and Ready,  the fifth installment in the series.  The names Trevor and Edgard popped out at me and that was all I needed to know.  Decision made.  I needed to read this.  Maybe there would be a happy ending for my boys after all.

Trevor is very happily married to the very sweet and lovely Chassie when Edgard decides to prance back into his life.  Chassie thought she knew everything about Trevor’s past.  That was until she finds the two of them locked in a mother of all kisses.  After talking to the only two other people (Channing and Colby from Long Hard Ride) that know about Trevor and Edgard’s history, Chassie decides that she is willing to try giving Travis what he wants – both her and Edgard.  What starts out as a nervous experiment becomes a lesson in sex and love that pushes the boundaries for all three of them.

I. Loved. This. Story.  The sex in this is HOT.  Ms. James visits a number of the combinations available with a threesome.    And there are also scenes with Chassie and Trevor, Trevor and Edgard, and Edgard and Chassie.   This was my first foray into the idea of polyamory.  An idea I find both fascinating and beautiful.  The romantic in me loves the idea that more than two people can open their hearts to love each other outside the boundaries that society sets.

If you are looking to satisfy the super hot female fantasy of having two men, then this story is for you.   I would also venture to recommend Rough, Raw and Ready if you are looking for an intro into some m/m action.
